{"id":147,"date":"2017-03-28T22:23:44","date_gmt":"2017-03-29T02:23:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theotherplace.xyz\/?p=147"},"modified":"2017-03-28T22:29:39","modified_gmt":"2017-03-29T02:29:39","slug":"147","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theotherplace.xyz\/?p=147","title":{"rendered":"Windows"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Old pictures of my family or of my home town are like small, clouded windows into the past. \u00a0I want to wipe away the fog that has turned the picture black and white.\u00a0 I want to peer at them from a sharp angle in the hopes of seeing something that&#8217;s just out of the frame.\u00a0 I want to squeeze through and walk past my stiffly posed ancestors and into the house that I was born in as it was a hundred years ago or more.\u00a0 There is a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/233781393341925\/photos\/a.235464689840262.65473.233781393341925\/1086935788026477\/?type=3\" target=\"_blank\">picture<\/a>\u00a0of my hometown, Chateaugay New York, looking North out of the center of town.\u00a0 It is the 1870s.\u00a0 My family\u2019s farm is straight down the road that leads North out of town, or up to the top of the picture.\u00a0 I know they\u2019re there, frozen in their tracks, caught in one moment of their day, but they\u2019re three miles away.\u00a0 But it\u2019s so close.\u00a0 I know that intersection.
